A Message from our President

In 2008, over 80% of the nearly 7,000 dogs taken into EBR Parish Animal Control were euthanized! Only 35% of these dogs were put to sleep because they were too sick or dangerous. Most of these homeless dogs were adoptable and just needed a place to call home.

Friends of the Animals BR, Inc. (FOTA BR) began in January of 2010 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) with all dogs in foster care. The dogs taken into the FOTA program are from local kill shelters. We have placed over 7000 dogs, primarily through the Dog Adoption House, into loving homes

We provide all of their basic vetting as well as vetting for other medical/dental issues, as needed. Our mission also includes providing life-saving treatment for ALL heartworm positive dogs adopted through FOTA BR. 

In addition to placing our dogs in a foster home, we provide everything they need including food, kennels, collars/leashes/harness, etc. Our fosters drop off the pups at the adoption house each morning and pick them up in the afternoon to return to their foster home for the night -  just like “doggie” daycare. Each dog saved and placed in a new home is a true success story, and we hope to continue making it a reality for even more homeless dogs in the Baton Rouge area.

On Saturday, June 15th, we will be hosting a Pickleball Tournament from 9am-4pm at the Stacks complex, which is located at the Celtic Studio. We will have Men’s and Women’s doubles. There will be prizes in addition to food and beverages provided for the tournament.

Sponsors will be featured on our social media posts for the event. Our success is only possible due to the generosity of supporters like you.
